UN aid chief Martin Griffiths has said he was concerned over the possible expansion of Israel's war on Gaza being expanded into a wider conflict across the region, including in the West Bank.

The West Bank, where the internationally recognised Palestinian Authority exercises limited self-rule under Israeli occupation, has seen the worst unrest for decades in parallel with Israel's relentless war on the Gaza since October.

The UN human rights office said that the start from October through to mid-June, 528 Palestinians - 133 of them children - had been killed by Israeli security forces or Israeli settlers in the West Bank, in some cases raising "serious concerns of unlawful killings".
