At least 10 Palestinians killed as Israel strikes Jenin camp in West Bank

Ten Palestinians were killed and more than 20 others were wounded in several Israeli raids on the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank on Thursday.

The camp came under intense attack, which included bombing, as raids were carried out by Israeli forces across the West Bank reportedly looking for armed Palestinian fighters.

Footage posted on social media by Quds Network showed smoke billowing out of a building in Jenin after it was reportedly hit by an Israeli drone.

Israeli forces have been going from house to house in the occupied West Bank looking for armed fighters, local reports said, adding that Israeli forces also took up sniper positions in some areas.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that one of its paramedics was shot in the back.

"This happened when a PRCS ambulance was targetting [sic] during a raid by occupation forces in #Jenin Refugee Camp," the group posted on X.

It shared an image showing the door of the ambulance riddled with bullet holes.

Earlier killings in raids

Israeli forces killed two Palestinians in the occupied West Bank cities of Hebron and Bethlehem.

The slain Palestinians were identified as Anas Abu Atwan, 30, and Mohammad Thawabten, 51, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

The shootings came amid a series of raids on the occupied West Bank by Israeli forces, which have intensified since the 7 October war on Gaza began.

The incursions also include extensive arrest campaigns and targeting of Palestinian civilians, according to local reports.

The Commission of Detainees’ Affairs and the Palestinian Society Prisoner's Club said on Thursday that Israel arrested at least 29 Palestinians from the West Bank the previous night, including a woman from Tubas.

While the raids were focused in Jerusalem and Tubas, they also targeted Ramallah, Bethlehem, Jenin, Nablus and Hebron, the NGO said.

The arrests included "torture, abuse and threats", as well as violent home raids, the organisation said.

Since 7 October, Israeli forces detained 2,300 Palestinians from the West Bank, according to the NGO, which said that the figure included those arrested from their homes, on military checkpoints and those who surrendered themselves.

The figure also included Palestinians who were still in detention as well as those who were released following their arrest, the NGO said.

The arrest came after Israel launched a military campaign on Gaza, killing over 10,000 Palestinians - mostly children, women and elderly.
