World Central Kitchen founder Jose Andres: Israel targeted aid workers 'systematically, car by car'

Celebrity chef Jose Andres has said that an Israeli attack that killed seven aid workers from his organisation, World Central Kitchen, had targeted them "systematically, car by car."

Speaking to Reuters in a video interview, Andres said the World Central Kitchen charity group he founded had clear communication with the Israeli military, which he said knew his aid workers' movements.

The aid workers were killed when their convoy was hit shortly after they oversaw the unloading of 100 tons of food brought to Gaza by sea. Andres added that there may have been more than three strikes against the aid convoy. Andres said his organisation was still studying the safety situation in Gaza as it contemplates starting aid deliveries again.

An Australian, Polish, Canadian-American, Palestinian and three British aid workers were killed shortly after they oversaw the unloading of food brought to Gaza by sea from Cyprus. The aid convoy was hit as it was leaving its Deir al-Balah warehouse after unloading more than 100 tons of food aid. World Central Kitchen began moving food aid to starving people in northern Gaza last month, via a maritime corridor from Cyprus, in collaboration with Spanish charity Open Arms and coordinated with Israel's military, Arab nations and others.
