Wael Dahdouh, the highly respected Palestinian journalist and Gaza bureau chief for Al Jazeera, has left Gaza to receive medical treatment in Qatar after being recently injured from an Israeli air strike.
Dahdouh became well-known and admired in recent months for his tireless and brave reporting on Israel’s war on Gaza, despite tremendous personal loss.
In separate attacks, Israeli forces have killed his wife, three children, his grandson, and many of his friends and colleagues, including Al Jazeera cameraman Samer Abudaqa.
Passing via Egypt yesterday before Qatar, he told Egyptian media AlQahera News that he wishes to return to report in Gaza after he has recovered from his injuries, and that he hopes that these efforts will lead to basic rights and justice for Palestinian people.
