Over the course of 13 months of bombing, the Israeli army dropped more than 85,000 tons of bombs on the Gaza Strip.

The World Health Organisation reported that about 95% of pregnant and lactating women in Gaza suffer from severe food poverty.

"There are hundreds of families in Jabalia living in indescribable famine, yet we prefer to die of hunger than to leave our homes,"  a resident told TNA.

The losses in Gaza's educational sector are estimated at over $720 million, according to the International Monetary Fund.

Ministry of Health's assistant undersecretary Dr Abdel-Latif Al-Hajj noted that women and children amount to 60 percent of the dead and 70 percent of wounded.

On 2 May 2024, the United Nations Mine Action Service said that about 7,500 tons of unexploded ordnance are scattered throughout the Gaza Strip.

"The Israeli army seeks, through these new attacks, to displace the remaining Palestinians in the north of the Strip to the south," said an analyst to TNA.

"I did not expect that we would commemorate the first anniversary of the war while we were still displaced," Al-Hamami told The New Arab.
