US rapper Travis Scott has announced he will unveil his highly anticipated forthcoming new album with a live performance at Egypt’s ancient pyramids.

Scott will host a special launch event for the fourth studio album 'the World of Utopia' at the pyramids of Giza — one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World — on 28 July, he said on social media on Sunday.

'The World of Utopia' does not yet have a release date, and its tracklist has not yet been officially announced.

An alleged tracklist leaked on social media says the first song on the album will be called 'Egypt'.

Scott toured the Middle East earlier this year, playing shows in Saudi Arabia and the UAE - as well as Israel.

The album will be Scott's first since a crowd crush at the Astroworld 2021 music festival in Texas that left ten people dead and many others injured.

Tickets for the Giza show, which will be live-streamed, appear to have sold out.

The ancient site has been the backdrop to shows from some of the world's biggest artists.

Security forces have heavily policed some of these shows, including by preventing concertgoers from carrying the LGBTQ+ rainbow flag.
