Syrian intra-rebel fighting leaves one dead in Aleppo
Fighting between Syrian opposition factions in Aleppo province this week have left one dead and two injured, amid another fierce battle between Kurdish-led groups and Arab tribes in eastern Syria.
Intense intra-rebel clashes erupted in the Third Corps of the pro-Turkish Syrian National Army rebel group between the Northern Storm Brigade (NSB) and the new 37th Division, led by Abu Al-Az Ariha, a source told The New Arab's Arabic-language edition, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed.
The incident took place at a military checkpoint belonging to the NSB and led to the death of one member of the 37th Division and the injury of two others from the group, the source said.
The source added that 11 members of the 37th Division were arrested.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Wednesday that seven NSB members were injured in fighting with the 37th Division, with one death but did not mention any injuries on the 37th Division's side.
The NSB is reportedly part of the Levant Front.
Ariha broke away from the Levant Front and created the 37th Division, according to the SOHR.
The ongoing war in Syria began in 2011 to overthrow Bashar Al-Assad's regime and has led to hundreds of thousands of deaths.
Various factions have fought in the conflict, from the regime and its Iranian and Russian allies to Kurdish-led forces backed by the US. Arab tribes and Kurdish factions that make up the Syrian Democratic Forces have been involved in fierce clashes this week, reportedly leaving dozens dead.
