Dubai-based music company buys 'Side-Eyeing Chloe' meme for $74,000
A popular meme turned video grab of a young girl has sold for nearly $74,000 after it was purchased by a Dubai-based music company.
The image of now ten-year-old Chloe Clem - better known as Side-Eyeing Chloe - was auctioned by the family for 25 Ethereum, a form of cryptocurrency.
It was bought by 3F Music in the UAE as a non-fungible token, which gives ownership of the data to the buyer but does not guarantee copyright, according to media reports.
3F Music did not respond to The New Arab at the time of this article.

Chloe's 2013 video took the internet by storm after her facial expressions became a meme used to portray disapproval, confusion, or anything similar in a humorous manner.
The eight-year video shows Chloe in her child seat at the back of her family's car, supposedly on her way to school with her older sister, Lily. The mother surprises her daughters by telling them they are going to Disneyland for three days.
Contrary to overwhelmed Lily, Chloe does not seem too excited by the trip.
The video, posted on the sisters’ official YouTube channel, has been viewed over 20 million times.
