Saudi club could make eye-watering offer to unite Mo Salah with Karim Benzema

A Saudi club could be set to make Liverpool an eye-watering offer for their Egyptian star Mo Salah after a £150 million bid was turned down last week.

Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad might now ramp up this offer to £215 million to secure the services of the Arab world's best-known footballer, according to The Sun.

This would break down to an initial offering of £170 million with £45 million in add-ons for the club and Salah getting a staggering £2.45 million a week.

Liverpool has already insisted that Salah is not for sale but some have suggested it might be tempted with the £215 million fortune on offer for the 31-year-old forward.

Salah is considered one of the best players in the Premier League scoring 139 goals in 222 appearances for Liverpool.

One snag to the potential offer is that Liverpool would not be able to find a replacement for Salah until January when the Premier League transfer window re-opens. 

Liverpool received and rejected a £150 million offer from Ittihad for Salah on the Premier League's transfer deadline day.

Al-Ittihad - which already boasts French star Karim Benzema in its ranks - was reportedly so confident their £150 million bid would go through that they chartered a private plane to bring Salah to Jeddah, according to UK media.

The Saudi transfer window closes on 7 September, so the hours are ticking away for Al-Ittihad's hopes to bag Salah. So far there are no signs Liverpool will accept the offer.

Saudi Pro League clubs - backed by a cash injection from the Public Investment Fund (PFI) - have spent astronomical sums of money this summer to bring talent to the kingdom. This includes some of the biggest names in the game beginning with the December signing of Cristiano Ronaldo.
