French-Algerian footballer Riyad Mahrez on Thursday made a long-term commitment to current club Manchester City, saying he wants to end his career there.

The 31-year-old winger, who has won a host of titles and accolades in his four years playing for the Premier League team, said he had no plans to retire any time soon.

“I definitely want to finish my career at City and play as long as I can. I think I can still play for a long time," the Manchester City website quoted him Thursday as saying.

The French-born Algerian footballer's contract with Manchester City was due to end next year, but he signed a two-year extension in July.

Mahrez has yet to score or assist a goal this season, somewhat sidelined by sensational new arrival Erling Haaland. The 22-year-old Norwegian has scored 11 goals in just seven appearances.

The Algeria national team talisman will not feature at the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after the squad narrowly lost out on a place at the tournament.
