Khalid Al-Misslam: Tributes paid after Qatari World Cup photojournalist dies
A Qatari media worker reporting on the football World Cup has died unexpectedly, according to local media this weekend.
"Alkass TV photojournalist Khalid Al-Misslam passed away recently," the Gulf Times newspaper tweeted on Saturday.
He "died suddenly while covering the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022", the outlet added.
"We believe in Allah's mercy and forgiveness for him, and send our deepest condolences to his family," the Gulf Times said.
Alkass also said Al-Misslam had passed away.
Few details have provided thus far about the cause of the photojournalist's death.
Al-Misslam's death comes days after that of popular US sports journalist Grant Wahl, who died while reporting on the quarter-final clash between Argentina and the Netherlands on Friday.
His widow, Céline Gounder, a well-known medical journalist, tweeted that she was "sending love" to Al-Misslam's family.
