Premier League football club Everton have chosen an architect firm involved in the Qatar World Cup 2022 stadium expansion to design their new football ground, which will be built on Liverpool's waterfront.
Sports specialists Pattern were chosen to buld the new ground planned for Liverpool's 52,000 seat waterfront complex, after building the 40,000-seat Al-Rayyan Stadium for 2022 World Cup.
The stadium will be built on Liverpool's Bramley-Moore Dock, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Sheppard Robson were previously appointed to help Meis Architects with the designs of the stadium but the role was given to Pattern.
"Sheppard Robson were helpful in the early stages but Pattern were added for their sports experience as the development of the project proceeded," Meis Architects said.
Everton Football Club have been based at Goodison Park in the Walton area for the past 130 years.
The new stadium will cost around £500 million to build and due to be constructed by 2023.
