Palestinian man killed as Israeli forces raid, demolish homes in West Bank
A Palestinian man has died from critical injuries sustained after Israeli forces fired live bullets and tear gas canisters during an assault in the occupied West Bank early on Tuesday.
Mutaz Sarsour died from wounds sustained during the dawn raid on the Al-Am'ari refugee camp in the city of Ramallah.
The attack also injured three men, including one who was reportedly run over by a military vehicle, according to WAFA.
Israeli forces also demolished two apartments belonging to the families of Palestinian detainees in the cities of Ramallah and Al-Bireh.
In Ramallah, Israeli forces raided a residential building in the Al-Tira neighbourhood before destroying the apartment that housed the family of Palestinian detainee Dr. Aysar Al-Barghouti.
Similarly, in Al-Bireh's Um Al-Sharayit neighbourhood, Israeli forces raided and destroyed the apartment of Palestinian detainee Dr. Khaled al-Kharouf.
Both Palestinian detainees were arrested in January after they were accused of taking part in "armed clashes" east of Ramallah. They have not yet been tried over the charges.
Israel regularly demolishes the homes of Palestinians accused of carrying out attacks against its forces in a move deemed as collective punishment by human rights groups.
During the raids on Tuesday, at least 20 Palestinians were arrested, including a child and former detainees, according to WAFA.
Israeli forces have ramped up attacks against Palestinian civilians in the occupied West Bank since 7 October, killing at least 624 people, including 145 children and nine women.
Within the same timeframe, Israeli forces arrested over 10,000 Palestinians in the West Bank, including 700 children and 345 women, according to the latest figures from Palestinian NGOs the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club, and the Al-Dameer Association for Prisoner Support and Human Rights.
