One Palestinian killed every day in Israeli strikes on West Bank: UN
An Israeli airstrike on a refugee camp near Tulkarm killed three young Palestinian men on Thursday, as a new report reveals the devastating cost of Israeli bombing in the occupied West Bank.
The Palestinian news agency WAFA identified the victims as Imad Tayseer Shraim, 34, Muawiya Al-Hajj Ahmed, 23, and Wassim Anbar, 24, saying they died when Israeli drones bombed a house in the refugee camp.
Israeli forces also bulldozed homes and structures in the camp and around Tulkarm from 1am local time, WAFA reported.
The latest deaths came as the United Nations reported that Israeli airstrikes had killed an average of one Palestinian every day in the West Bank this month.
A report by the UN humanitarian agency OCHA said that 128 Palestinians, including 26 children, were killed by Israel in airstrikes in the West Bank since October 7, when the Gaza war broke out.
At least 640 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in the West Bank – including in occupied East Jerusalem - in total since then, according to an AFP count, either by the military or settlers.
On 14 August, an Israeli drone strike in Tammun in the northern West Bank killed four Palestinian teenagers aged between 17 and 19, while two Palestinians were killed in an Israeli strike on the Balata refugee camp.
Israel resumed airstrikes on the West Bank shortly after the Gaza war began on 7 October with drones increasingly deployed to take out suspected fighters.
It had previously used airstrikes frequently in the occupied Palestinian territory during the Second Intifada, which took place between 2000 and 2005.
