Qatar emir receives condolence messages from MbS, MbZ after passing of relative
Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani received condolence messages from the leaders of Saudi Arabia and the UAE on Saturday following the passing of royal family member Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad, Qatar's former education minister, died on Friday, according to the Qatar News Agency.
“We send to Your Highness and the family of the deceased our deepest condolences and sincere sympathy,” Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz said in a telegram quoted by the Saudi Press Agency.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also conveyed his condolences in a message saying: “I send to your Highness and the family of the deceased my warmest condolences and sincere sympathy.”
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-President, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, also sent similar cables of condolences to the Emir of Qatar and the Father Emir
Cables were also sent to the Qatari emir by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Makhtoum.
Funeral prayers were held for Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad after sunset on Saturday at Doha's Muhammad Ibn Abd Al Wahhab Mosque. His body was buried at the Old Al Rayyan cemetery.
