‘The Last of Us’ actor Troy Baker to headline Middle East Film and Comic Con
The Middle East Film and Comic Con has announced that voice actor Troy Baker, best known for his role as Joel Miller in The Last of Us video game series, will be the first celebrity headliner for 2024’s edition of the pop culture convention.
The 12th edition of the biggest pop culture festival in the region is set to take place from 9-11 February in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi. Last year, the MEFCC saw its biggest turnout in the festival's history with more than 35,000 visitors attending over three days.
Baker previously lent his voice to roles such as Snow Villiers from Final Fantasy XIII and Jonesy in Fortnite. He also made a famous cameo on the HBO series adaptation of The Last of Us, where he took on the role of notorious cannibal James.
The Middle East Film and Comic Con was first held at the World Trade Centre in Dubai in 2012, but in 2022 was relocated to Abu Dhabi.
Among the attendees at MEFCC 2023 were Stranger Things stars David Harbour and Jamie Campbell Bower, Star Wars' Hayden Christensen and Anthony Daniels, The Lord of the Rings' Andy Serkis, and House of the Dragon actor Matt Smith.
The 2024 festival will include an array of entertainment from the region and the world, as well as some of the world's most renowned fandoms, franchises, and brands in film, TV, sci-fi, anime, and Manga.
MEFCC 2024 will also be announcing additional celebrity guests in the coming months.
