Egyptian wrestler Mohamed Ibrahim Elsayed wins bronze in Tokyo

Egyptian wrestler Mohamed Ibrahim Elsayed secured his country's third Olympic medal on Wednesday afternoon after taking bronze in the men's Greco-Roman 67 kg event.

Elsayed defeated Russian Olympic Committee athlete Artrem Surkov at the Makuhari Messe Hall in Tokyo to win the third-place prize.

The 23-year-old clawed back the win after going a point down early in the match. He bounced back with a defensive performance that ensured the win.

The bronze is Egypt's fifth-ever medal in Olympic wrestling since joining the international sports event in 1912.

Fellow Egyptian Mohamed Metwally, meanwhile, missed out on winning bronze in the 87-kg category after losing 8-1 to German Denis Kudla.
