This Eid season two strange celebrity doppelgangers have made it into the Arabic media following "sightings" of Mo Salah and George H.W. Bush in the most unexpected places.

A Kuwait-based slaughterhouse worker was the first to garner attention on social media because of his uncanny resemblance to Egyptian footballer Mohammed Salah.

"This all started about five years ago... when I was told I look a lot like Mohammed Salah and that if I changed my hair I would look more like him," the lookalike told Saudi media.

"When I did that people started calling me in public and taking selfies with me. My colleagues at the slaughterhouse have started taking pictures of me and putting them on social media," he added.

Meanwhile, as Salah's double was preparing the meat for the Islamic festival another lookalike was performing the hajj pilgrimage.

Pan-Arab Al-Sharq Al-Awsat reported that one pilgrim bore a strong likeness to former US president George Bush Senior.

"I'm used to people calling me George Bush especially when I am abroad," the 87-year-old US professor was quoted as saying.

"This is my first time on pilgrimage in Mecca and a few non-US pilgrims have approached me and asked if I am Bush," he added.
