A 21-year-old Palestinian died in a Gaza hospital on Monday, eight months after being shot by Israeli forces while protesting at the enclave’s borders for the Great March of Return in February.

Fady Osama Ramadan Hejazi was shot while taking part in the march by the Jabalia refugee camp, the Palestinian health ministry confirmed.

According to the Jabalia-based Al Mezan Center for Human Rights, 326 Palestinians have been shot and killed by the Israeli military since the Great March of Return protests began on March 30, 2018.

Al Mezan reported that 213 have been killed while taking part in the protests, including 46 women and children, nine disabled people, four paramedics and two journalists.

A total of 18,460 have been injured in the protests.

Among the injured are 9,243 shot with live bullets, including 2,000 children.

Eight Israelis have been killed in Gaza-related violence over the same period.

Palestinians have been gathering for weekly demonstrations at various points along the border since March 2018.

The protests are demanding Israel end a crippling blockade of the strip and allow Palestinians to return to lands they fled in the 1948 war that founded the Jewish state.
