The former king of Malaysia has made headlines again regarding his divorce with a former Miss Moscow who has made "astronomical" divorce demands, according to the Mail Online

The Sultan of Kelantan and Oksana Voevodina married in a secret Islamic ceremony in Malaysia just one year before the announcement of their split.

Sources close to the sultan have said his ex-wife is now demanding a £1.2m Moscow apartment, an £8 million ($9.9m) London home, and a £24,000-a-month ($30,000) allowance for their son, Tengku Ismail Leon Petra Bin Tengku Muhammad V Faris Petra. These claims have yet to be confirmed by Voevodina.

The Sun reported that the king was astounded by her demands, asking: “Who does she think I am... Bill Gates?”

A source told the Mail Online of the couple's son, Leon: 'Is he attending Eton next year that she needs so much for an infant?'

The sultan was the first monarch in the history of Malaysia to abdicate as the country's head of state. Many sustain that this was due to the emergence of revealing pictures and claims about his ex-wife’s past surrounding her promiscuity on a Russian reality TV show.

Despite giving up the role of head of state, which is shared out by the country's nine monarchs on a rotating basis, Sultan Muhammad remains king of Malaysia's northeastern state of Kelantan.

When she was asked about her ex-husband’s abdication Voevodina told the Daily Mail: “I think this is a political question, and I’m out of politics, but I am sure it is not because of me.”

The former pageant winner converted to Islam and changed her name is Rihana in order to marry the Sultan, who is 24 years her senior.

But the union was met with reservations from the Malay elite and those close to the king from the beginning. Voevodina was attacked due to her past as a model and reality TV star in Russia.

Voevodina told Mail Online that she still doesn't fully understand why her husband asked for a divorce: “I tried to contact him and his relatives many times but I couldn't get them”

The couple is said to have met in Europe 18 months ago when she was modelling luxury watches, reported the Daily Mail
