Ghada Elnajjar is a Palestinian American community organiser whose grandparents were refugees from the 1948 Nakba, making her a third-generation Palestinian in exile. In an interview with The New Arab ahead of the US presidential election, Ghada shared her experience of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza from afar, where more than 100 members of her extended family have been killed due to attacks from Israeli forces. As the US prepares to head to the polls next week on Tuesday, Ghada criticised the Biden administration for its complicity in supporting Israel, and said the choice between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is also a struggle to reconcile her political choices with her moral beliefs – especially since both candidates seemingly support the genocide against her people. “The Palestinian and Lebanese community in the US is extremely disappointed and very hurt; we are mourning and grieving,” she said.
