Over 86 Palestinian journalists have been killed in the ongoing Israeli military campaign in the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7.
The latest fatality was Mohamed Abu Samra, who was killed in an Israeli attack on Sunday. ‘Israel’s assassination of Palestinian journalists is an attempt to obscure the Palestinian narrative and hide the truth’ said by the government media office.
A statement ‘For Our Collogues’ was signed on Monday by +1500 journalist to immediately provide protection of all journalists by all parties.
As of December 11, CPJ’s preliminary investigations showed at least 63 journalists and media workers were among the more than 19,000 killed since the war began on October 7—with some 18,000 Palestinian deaths in Gaza and the West Bank and 1,200 deaths in Israel.
The deadliest day of the war for journalist deaths was its first day, October 7.
