More than 50 international broadcast journalists have signed an open letter to Egyptian and Israeli authorities to call for “free and unfettered access to Gaza for all foreign media”.
Since October 7, Israel has allowed access to Gaza to a handful of foreign journalists, mostly by being “embedded” with the Israeli army.
The burden of reporting from Gaza has been on the shoulders of Gaza journalists who have been systematically targeted and killed by Israel.
According to the latest data from the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), Israel has killed at least 94 journalists and media workers in Gaza since October 7.
The CPJ has also previously stated that over 75% of all journalists killed in 2023 died as a result of Israeli attacks in Gaza.
