While Lebanese civilians had mixed reactions to the news that Hamas political bureau chief Yahya Sinwar was killed in an armed confrontation with Israeli forces in Rafah, everyone seems to agree that Israel will not stop its brutal military campaign on the country. Hezbollah today said it would "move to a new and escalating phase with Israel", following the killing of Sinwar. The Lebanese group, who did not mention Sinwar by name in their statement, said discussions on their new approach will take place in "the coming days" as it continues to engage in combat with Israeli forces amid an invasion of Lebanon. Meanwhile, Iran's mission to the UN said after Sinwar's death, "the spirit of resistance will be strengthened" while Biden said this would be an opportunity for a ceasefire to be achieved. Netanyahu has said Israel's war on Gaza won't stop even though it "eliminated" its most wanted man.
