Queen Rania of Jordan took centre stage at the Web Summit Qatar in Doha yesterday, bringing attention to the critical situation in Palestine and criticising the global response to Israel's genocidal assault on Gaza.
In her address, she illuminated the "glaring double standard" in international reactions to Israel's relentless and brutal war in Gaza. Queen Rania underscored the disproportionate impact of Israeli military actions on Palestinian civilians, highlighting the deaths of thousands, including many children, as a result of Israeli bombardments.
The Jordanian royal also argued for a renewed focus on the long-standing struggle for Palestinian rights and freedom, emphasising that the conflict did not begin with recent hostilities but is part of a decades-long history of oppression. Queen Rania was born in Kuwait to Palestinian parents and has been recognised by Forbes magazine as one of the world's most powerful women.
