This is the horrific moment a suspected Israeli sniper shot dead a Palestinian civilian who was waving a white flag in a "safe zone" in Gaza - and it all happened in front of an audience of British TV viewers who saw the whole thing unfold during a live broadcast.

Speaking to ITV News, a group of Palestinian men waving a white flag were interviewed live about their evacuation to the border city of Rafah. Ramzi Abu Sahloul was among them, and he lamented the lack of safe places in Gaza as he attempted to take his mother and brother from Khan Younis - currently under siege by the Israeli military - to the Egyptian border.

But minutes later, the live footage showed Abu Sahloul being shot through the chest by a suspected Israeli sniper - leading to his instant death. ITV viewers have called the killing of Abu Sahloul another example of alleged Israeli war crimes. The Israeli military has denied any cases of "field executions", although similar horrific scenes have been caught on camera. However, Israel has a track record of shooting down civilians carrying white flags.

In 2009, HRW reported seven such incidents during Israel's 2008/9 aggression Gaza, killing 11 civilians, including five women and four children.
