The remains of 14 victims of the 1995 Srebrenica massacre were buried yesterday as part of the 29th anniversary of the killings, seen as Europe's only atrocity constituting genocide since World War II. The anniversary comes two months after the UN General Assembly declared July 11 an international day of remembrance of the Srebrenica genocide. The youngest among the 14 victims buried was a 17-year-old boy, the eldest was 68. Their remains were laid to rest after the commemoration ceremony in Srebrenica's memorial cemetery. The massacre of around 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys in 1995 took place after the UN safe zone of Srebrenica was overrun by Bosnian Serb forces during the Balkan wars that followed the disintegration of Yugoslavia.
