Following the bitter spat between Turkey and the US which sparked the lira going into freefall, Erdogan's supporters got creative with their attacks aimed at ridiculing the US and the Trump administration.
With threats of sanctions and trade wars flying between the two powers, the American dollar bill has come to symbolise the conflict and has become the centre piece in several brash pranks aimed at humiliating the US.
On Tuesday night, a late-night Turkish TV programme showed a woman wearing a Donald Trump mask, dancing with the presenter as he threw dollar bills at her.
"As Turkey blames @realDonaldTrump for intentionally raising the dollar to cause the lira to fall (in the hopes to hurt Turkey's economy that he's jealous of - allegedly), night-time Turkish TV has a belly dancer wearing a Trump mask that the presenter pins dollars on. Yes, really," tweeted Turkish journalist Seref Isler on Tuesday.
In the days previously, numerous videos were circulating showing enraged Turks burning or ripping up dollar bills, however some went even further and decided the US cash, despite its rapidly increasing value to the lira, would make excellent tissues for (very thorough) nose blowing.
For the more traditional protesters, so-called "dollar prayer circles" were set up in order to ask for divine intervention in the world economy and bring down the dollar to spite Trump.
