Criminals smuggling drugs into Saudi Arabia have taken a leaf out from cult television series Breaking Bad, attempting to sneak in cocaine into the kingdom in chicken meat.
In Breaking Bad, fictional drug smugglers set up a KFC-style fried chicken franchise by the name of Los Pollos Hermanos, as a front for moving crystal meth (methamphetamine), a potent highly addictive syntetic drug.
Saudi authorities busted a cocaine shipment at a port on the kingdom’s west coast, reported the Saudi Press Agency reported on Friday.
The report said Customs officials seized 46 kilograms of cocaine at King Abdullah Seaport in Rabigh.
The drugs were concealed in a shipment of frozen chicken meat.
Images released by SPA showed masked officials unloading boxes from a container and opening packets containing what appears to be white powder.
Drug trafficking is a crime punishable by death in Saudi Arabia.
