A bizarre video has emerged on social media of a Lebanese man who wants to send a tank to the Lebanese army… from Canada.

The video, which has so far been seen more than 12,000 times on YouTube, shows an unidentified man standing next to a tank in a residential neighbourhood.

"Greetings to the Lebanese army, we are with you and we support you," he said, adding that he wanted to help the army by buying them a tank.

"I will send it to you from here in Canada."

The New Arab contacted the Canadian Export Controls Division to confirm if an application for an arms export permit had been made, but we are yet to receive a response.

The Lebanese army has recently launched a series of controversial raids in Syrian refugee camps around the Arsal area of eastern Lebanon.

At least four Syrian refugees have died in custody, allegedly from torture.

The raids come on the back of growing anti-Syrian refugee sentiment in Lebanon.
