Horrific video shows Israeli officer shooting Palestinian dead near Nablus
Horrific video footage has emerged showing a member of the Israeli border police shooting dead a Palestinian man in the town of Hawara south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank on Friday afternoon.
The video, shared by the Palestinian news agency Maan and other media outlets, shows a young Palestinian man in a scuffle with an Israeli border guard, who tried to detain him.
At the beginning of the video other Palestinian men appear to unsuccessfully pull the man away from the border guard.
A scuffle continues for a few seconds more before the border guard reached for a gun and shot the unarmed man. The guard continues to shoot even when the man is down on the ground and immobilised. The man was later reported to have died.
Israeli media sources claimed that the man had stabbed Israeli officers and wounded them, but there was no evidence of that in the video The New Arab viewed.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said that its medical personnel were prevented for 15 minutes from reaching the man after he was shot dead.

Earlier on Friday, Israeli forces stormed the city of Nablus, shooting another Palestinian man and detaining another youth.
Dozens of Palestinians threw rocks at Israeli armoured vehicles which entered the city. Israeli forces shot at the Palestinians with both live and rubber bullets, according to the Arabic news website Arabi 21.
Israeli forces have carried out near-daily, often deadly raids on Palestinian cities in the West Bank since March.
The UN has said that 2022 has been the deadliest year for Palestinians in the West Bank for 17 years.
