Two Syrian brothers arrested in the Netherlands on suspicion of planning 'terror' plot
The Netherlands has arrested two Syrian brothers aged 20 and 22 in the southeast of the country on suspicions they were preparing a "terrorist" act, prosecutors said on Thursday.
An investigation was launched this week after an alert from the Dutch secret services, they said.
Police arrested both men, "suspected to be preparing a terrorist offence", on Wednesday evening in the southeastern town of Stein near the Belgian border, the prosecutors added.
"During the arrest and search of the suspects' home, no weapon or explosive was found," they said, without providing further details on the alleged plot.
A spokesman for the prosecutors, cited by Dutch public television NOS, said the probe would now focus on "what the suspects had in mind".
No further arrests were expected, NOS reported.
