Nusret Gokce, who became known as "Salt Bae" following a 2017 viral video, was referred to the public prosecutor after posting a video on Instagram and could face charges of indecent exposure.
The 37-year-old restaurateur was giving a tour of a hotel he owns in Istanbul while wearing a bathrobe.
At one point during the video, Gokce's bathrobe flies open as he jumps onto a bed at the Park Hyatt hotel suite, revealing a glimpse of his genitals, according to reports.
The five-star hotel tour has attracted condemnation from social media users who accused the celebrity chef of flaunting his luxurious lifestyle amid a time of economic upheaval during the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier this week, "Salt Bae" was selected as one of 19 Turkish chefs who will represent the Turkish ministry for culture and tourism in a new campaign.
As head of the Nusr-et brand, Gokce owns restaurants in Turkey, Greece, Qatar, the UAE, the US and Saudi Arabia.
