Former President Donald Trump has praised far-right political activist Laura Loomer in a video uploaded by Loomer onto social media site X, formerly known as Twitter.

In the video, taken in Trumps Bedminster golf club, Trump told Loomer that she is a "very opinionated lady, I have to tell you. And in my opinion, I like that."

He also stated that he and his campaign were very appreciative of Loomer's support as he runs for re-election and faces Republican rivals during US presidential primaries.

Loomer, a failed Republican congressional nominee, is a self-described "proud Islamophobe" who has spread conspiracy theories surrounding the 2018 Parkland school shooting and Covid-19 vaccines.

In 2017, she was banned from ride-sharing services Uber and Lyft for posting a series of tweets blaming all Muslims for terrorist attacks and tweeting that she never wanted to take a car driven by an "Islamic immigrant driver".

She also said that she "did not care" about the victims of the 2019 Christchurch mosque shootings.

Although not running for office, she has campaigned heavily for Trump in the run-up to the Republican primaries. According to the New York Times, Trump had wanted to give Loomer a role on his campaign.

That campaign has seen Trump successfully fending off his closest Republican rival and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is currently trailing Trump by 38.9 points, according to FiveThirtyEight.

According to Loomer, during their meeting Trump praised her "exposing" DeSantis.

Since the video Loomer has stated that she is "President Trump's biggest fan," saying that she "will be fighting as hard as I can to get him elected in 2024."

She also reaffirmed that she would continue her work against DeSantis, proclaiming "I will lead the national anti-DeSantis movement until he leaves the Governor's office with an approval rating below 40%."

Although Trumps re-election campaign continues, he was yesterday indicted by the Superior Court of Fulton County on charges of attempting to overturn the 2020 election in the state of Georgia alongside 18 others.

Trump has since described the trail as a "witch hunt" and reaffirmed that the election was rigged against him.
