Donald Trump on Friday dismissed the testimony of his daughter, Ivanka Trump, at a hearing investigating the 6 January 2021 Capitol riots.

"Ivanka Trump was not involved in looking at, or studying, election results," the former United States president posted on Truth Social, an alternative social media account he launched after being banned from Twitter. “She had long since checked out,” Trump added dismissively.

Trump's comments came in response to his daughter's testimony, which was played out on Friday during a hearing of the House select committee - a congressional panel investigating last year's mob assault on the US Capitol.

Ivanka Trump stated that she had accepted Attorney General William P. Barr’s conclusion that there was no widespread fraud affecting the outcome - unlike her father, who continued to publicly insist the election had been 'stolen'.

Trump's remark is the latest indicator of the growing rift between the former US president and his daughter, who allegedly tried to convince her father to pull back his supporters on January 6.

Trump's administration is accused of involvement in several potentially illegal schemes to overturn the 2020 election results, including staging the Capitol riots. But the former president defiantly dismissed the probe as a baseless "witch hunt".
