One Syrian civilian was killed and another injured on Monday in shelling by Assad regime and Russian forces in northern Syria, according to activists and civil defence groups.

Civilians were targeted while they harvested olive crops in Maarbilit village, Idlib province, according to the Syria Civil Defence, popularly known as the White Helmets.

The outskirts of the villages of Benin and San in the province were also bombed, but no injuries or casualties were reported.

Parts of the Jabal al-Zawiya area of Idlib were also targeted, causing damage to civilian property, activists told The New Arab’s Arabic-language sister site Al-Araby Al-Jadeed.

At least two civilians were killed in the southern city of Daraa on Sunday evening as a result of renewed clashes between local factions and armed groups suspected of ties to the Islamic State group, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported.
