Sultan of Brunei's daughter weds Iraqi man in elaborate ceremony
One of the daughters of the powerful Sultan of Brunei has married an Iraqi-Canadian man.
36-year-old Princess Fadzillah Lubabul, the ninth of the Sultan's 12 children, wed Abdullah Al-Hashemi in an elaborate seven-day celebration.
At the wedding, she flaunted jewellery that was borrowed from the royal collection of her stepmother, the Queen of Brunei.
Fadzillah is the daughter of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah second wife, Maryam Abdel Aziz, a former flight attendant.
Her new husband is an Iraqi who lives in Canada and holds Canadian citizenship.
One of the ceremonies was held at the Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque in Brunei, while another ceremony was held in a pure gold-plated palace.
Hassanal Bolkiah is one of the richest men in the world with an estimated worth of $30 billion. He has ruled Brunei since 1967.
