Messages and murals glorifying Iran-backed militias as part of the set of an American television show alarmed residents in Amman, Jordan's capital.

Residents of the Amman neighbourhood took to social media to voice their opposition online, and Jordan’s Media Commission was forced to clarify that they were part of a set.

The murals were put up for an American-produced television series on a military operation in the Middle East, especially in Syria, where Iran-backed militias are currently active and have played an important role in ensuring President Bashar al-Assad’s regime maintains its grip on power.

Jordanian authorities have confirmed that the show’s producers had the necessary permits from the kingdom’s security forces to put up the murals, according to Arabi 21.
