Dozens of Palestinians injured after Israeli forces target anti-settlement marches
Dozens of Palestinians were injured on Friday after Israeli forces attacked anti-settlement marches in several areas of the occupied West Bank.
Confrontations broke out on Mount Namar, which is located opposite Mount Sabih – a site of Israeli settlement activity near Nablus, said local writer Majdi Hammayil.
Friday prayers were performed on top of Mount Namar before a march was held protesting the illegal settlement of Evyatar, located on top of Mount Sabih.
Israel's far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir visited the site on Friday morning.
Palestinian Red Crescent official Ahmad Jibril said ambulance crews dealt with 10 cases of people suffering from tear gas inhalation at Mount Sabih.
Hammayil said young Palestinians set hundreds of rubber tyres on fire amid intense confrontations with Israeli forces.
Israeli forces also suppressed a weekly anti-settlement march in Beit Dajan near Nablus, said the journalist Mohammed Abu Thabet.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said ambulance crews dealt with five cases of people suffering from tear gas inhalation in the village.
Also on Friday, Israeli settlers stormed Qaryout, a Palestinian village in Nablus province, under the protection of Israeli forces, who fired guns and used tear gas.
Settlers also attacked and damaged Palestinian vehicles south of the city of Hebron, causing damage to a number of them.
Settlements are viewed as a key barrier to achieving a two-state solution for Palestine and Israel.
There are 700,000 Jewish settlers living in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem and they often use violence against Palestinians.
