Palestinian shot by Israeli forces dies from critical wounds
A Palestinian died on Saturday morning after Israeli forces shot him and left him seriously injured, The New Arab’s Arabic language service Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported.
Israeli forces shot Samih Amarneh – a former prisoner – on 2 June, after storming his hometown of Yabad, southwest of Jenin in the northern West Bank.
Amarneh died as a result of his critical wounds, the Palestinian health ministry announced in a statement, at Istishari Hospital in Ramallah in the West Bank.
The Israeli attack in Yabad also resulted in the death of a 24-year-old man named Bilal Qahba. Six other young men were wounded by live bullets – three of them, including Amarneh, seriously.
Israeli forces on Saturday also stormed the Al-Jabriyat neighbourhood of the city of Jenin, amid extensive searches and combing operations.
In addition, they fired stun grenades and tear gas canisters on Saturday at dozens of workers near the Israeli separation wall in the West Bank as they were trying to get their workplaces in Israel.
In a separate incident, a Palestinian shepherd was attacked by settlers in the Masaffer Yatta area near Hebron in the southern West Bank.
