A Palestinian was killed in an Israeli army raid on the refugee camp in the northern West Bank city of Jenin early on Wednesday morning, report medical and security sources.

The man, named by some news agencies as Ezzedine Ghora, 23, was reportedly hit by two bullets in his chest and arm, and died before reaching hospital.

Israeli authorities said a border police force was in the Jenin refugee camp to conduct arrests.

"Upon leaving the camp, the force identified a suspect trying to throw an explosive device at them," said a police statement.

One of the border police shot and wounded him, the statement said, stating the device probably detonated near the man as he lay injured.
