Palestinian fighters carried out shooting attacks against Israeli forces and a kibbutz on Friday and Saturday, with Israel launching raids in the occupied West Bank.
Israeli forces stormed the village of Jalbun near Jenin in the West Bank on Friday and carried out raids and searches in a cemetery there.
There were confrontations between Palestinians and Israeli forces, with a number of residents left suffering from the effects of tear gas fired by Israeli troops.
Israeli forces returned and stormed the same area again on Saturday morning, carrying out further searches, village council chief Ibrahim Abu Al-Rub told The New Arab's Arabic-language sister service Al-Araby Al-Jadeed.
The raids and searches came shortly after the Jenin Brigade, a Palestinian armed group affiliated with the Islamic Jihad movement's Al-Quds Brigades military wing, said it had fired on a nearby Israeli kibbutz.
Israeli forces also stormed the Nur Shams refugee camp near the city of Tulkarm on Saturday.
The Tulkarm Brigade, also affiliated with the Al-Quds Brigades, said it had confronted the raiding forces with gunfire and homemade explosives.
The "rapid response group" affiliated with the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, the armed wing of the Fatah political party that dominates the Palestinian Authority, said its fighters carried out a shooting attack against an Israeli checkpoint near Tulkarm.
One fighter was wounded as Israeli forces pursued those who performed the attack, with an Israeli soldier also injured.
Israeli forces on Saturday also stormed other areas, including parts of the cities of Hebron and Nablus.
It comes as Israel has repeatedly conducted deadly raids in the West Bank. Nablus and Jenin have been key targets of these operations.
Israeli forces and settlers have killed more than 160 Palestinians so far this year.
