Palestinian demonstrator dies after being shot in Gaza clashes
A Palestinian died on Saturday a day after being shot and injured by Israeli forces during a demonstration on the Gaza border over US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
Jamal Muslih, 20, of al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, had been seriously wounded by live fire on Friday, Gazan health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said.
Thirteen Palestinians have now been killed by Israel's military since US President Donald Trump's announcement on 6 December to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital and move the US embassy there from Tel Aviv.
Eleven Palestinians were during demonstrations, while two others were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza earlier this month.
On Friday, more than 50 Palestinians were injured by Israeli forces during clashes on the Gaza border as part of a "day of rage" over the US declaration on Jerusalem.
In the occupied West Bank more than 16 people were wounded by live fire and rubber-coated steel bullets.
Earlier on Friday, militants in Gaza fired three rockets at southern Israel, with one hitting a village near the border causing damage, while two others were intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome system.
Israel responded with airstrikes and tank fire on two Hamas positions near the border.
Israel typically responds to each Gaza attack and holds Hamas responsible, even though other armed groups in the territory fire rockets.
Israel regards Jerusalem as its "undivided" capital, a position nearly the entire world rejects saying its status should be determined in peace talks with the Palestinians.
Under international law East Jerusalem is considered occupied Palestinian territory.
