British broadcaster Mehdi Hasan has launched a new media company, Zeteo, after parting ways with US broadcaster MSNBC. allegedly over the Gaza war.

According to the site’s launch essay, Zeteo will be a "new online platform for the kind of tough interviews and deep-dive monologues that I [Hasan] have become known for in recent years, but it will also be a home to new podcasts, newsletters, and social videos".

"In this dystopian age of 'alternative facts,' 'fake news,' and constant 'gaslighting,' seeking out the truth and sharing it with others is more important than ever before. And so it is the primary goal of this new media venture of mine," Hasan wrote.

He stated that the news site will aim to transparently present opinions and biases while always striving to tell the truth.

The journalist also hopes Zeteo "will prioritise speaking truth to power over securing access to power" and will "touch" the words racism, fascism, and genocide, unlike most news organisations.

Hasan was one of three Muslim journalists who were all allegedly removed from regular programming and news on Gaza after 7 October.

Reports of the suspensions come as Western media outlets are the focus of criticism from readers and viewers over alleged bias towards Israel.

Hasan and his colleague Ali Velshi have both covered issues related to Israel and Palestine, while Ayman Mohyeldin has reported from within Gaza during previous Israeli attacks on the enclave.

Unnamed CNN journalists have also accused the outlet of biased reporting on Israel's war on Gaza, attributing it to new management and editorial processes.
