Lebanon pop-star Elissa reveals breast cancer battle in new music video
One of Lebanon's most beloved pop stars has revealed her battle with cancer in a music video released on Tuesday.
Elissa's latest track "Ila Kol Elli Bihebbouni" (To All The People Who Love Me) depicts the singer's recent struggle with breast cancer and radiotherapy treatment.
"I do my radiotherapy session, I go to the studio, I finish another session, I rest for two hours and then to the studio again. Once a week I go live on television," Ellissa can be heard saying in a recorded conversation at the start of the video.
"I've recovered, I've beaten the illness and I won. Early detection of breast cancer can save your life. Don't ignore it, face it. Do it not only for yourself, but for your loved ones," a message from Elissa says at the end.
Elissa, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in December last year, collapsed on stage in February. No reason for the incident was given at the time.
The video has already garnered over three million views on YouTube and the hashtag #Elissa has topped Twitter's trending list in Lebanon.
Fan and celebrities have rushed to send messages of support to the singer and host of Arabic-language version of The Voice.
"Thank god for your recovery. God bless and protect you. We love you so much," tweeted fellow Lebanese pop star Nancy Ajram.
