At least six killed in southeastern Yemen bombing

A bomb has exploded in the southeastern Yemen, killing at least six people - including children - and wounding four more, officials said on Friday.

Local police said that the bomb exploded at a hub for motorcycle taxis in al-Qoton district, Hadramout on Friday, the second attack on the town in less than a week.

Two of the wounded were seriously injured, the official - who was not authorised to brief the media - said.

Nobody has immediately claimed responsibly for the bombing, although al-Qaeda is suspected to be behind the attack.

Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula [AQAP] and the Islamic State group have all carried out bombings in Yemen.

AQAP are active in several areas of south and eastern Yemen.

Yemen has been embroiled in a civil war pitting the Houthis - who control the capital - against the government of President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, which is backed by a Saudi-led coalition since March 2015.
