Beliebers 'heartbroken' as Justin Bieber cancels Dubai, Bahrain and India shows. citing 'poor health'
Justin Bieber has cancelled two of his upcoming concerts in Dubai and others in Asia due to health issues, to the disappointment of some fans.
The singer revealed in June that he was suffering from facial paralysis after being diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome - which doctors suspect emerged after he contracted Covid-19.
Bieber, who had resumed his Justice World Tour in July, was due to perform on 8 and 9 October at the Coca Cola Arena in Dubai.
Fans will be given refunds after shows in Bahrain, Israel, and India were also cancelled.
"First and foremost we support Justin in putting his health and wellbeing first. Whilst his decision to cancel the two Dubai dates is very disappointing for his many Middle East fans, we are sending him our best wishes for a speedy recovery," said Thomas Ovesen, owner of TOP Entertainment, the show promoters.
"Our thoughts are also with everyone on the Justice World Tour as well as the many people involved in preparing the Dubai shows."
Fans were left disappointed at the cancellation, with many taking to social media to wish the singer well.
"Hope u get speedy recovery and be healthy pls🙏 I still hope for Asia, still waiting u, waiting a miracle come to u, hope i have a chance to meet u for the first time in my life since 2009. Get well soon baby, love u," one Bieber fan account tweeted.
Earlier this month, Bieber announced that he was too sick to finish the European segment of his tour.
“After resting and consulting with my doctors, family and team, I went to Europe in an effort to continue the tour,” he said in a statement.
“I performed six live shows, but it really took a real toll on me.”
Ramsay Hunt syndrome is a side effect of a shingles outbreak that affects the facial nerve near a person's ears. It can cause painful shingles rash, along with facial paralysis and hearing loss in the nearby ear.
The UAE has become an entertainment hot spot for the region but some rights groups have called on acts to not perform in the country due to human rights issues.
Bieber was also criticised for performing in Saudi Arabia in 2021, where activists have also been detained.
