Israeli soldiers kill Palestinian during raid in occupied West Bank
Israeli soldiers shot dead a Palestinian in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, medics and a militant group said.
It was the second time in two days that Israeli forces have killed Palestinians during late-night raids.
The Israeli military said its forces apprehended two suspects in what it described as "counter-terrorism activities" in the city of Jenin.
Israeli force then fired live ammunition at Palestinians responding to the attack.
The Palestinian foreign ministry condemned the raid, saying the slain man, Ahmad Massad, had been summarily executed.
Video circulated on social media appeared to show at least one Palestinian man firing a rifle in the street as more gunshots were heard.
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant group said in a statement that Massad was one of its members and was killed "as he confronted the occupying forces".
Israel has stepped up its attacks in the occupied West Bank recently, storming a number of Palestinian towns and killing dozens. Israeli forces killed a Palestinian man on Tuesday when they stormed a refugee camp in the occupied West Bank city of Jericho.
Over 600,000 Israeli settlers reside in the West Bank, which has been occupied by Israeli forces since the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, in settlements which are illegal under international law.
Palestinians in the West Bank face intimidation, violence, and restrictions on day-to-day activity from settlers and Israeli forces.
