Israeli soldiers are using dogs to attack Palestinians in Jerusalem as violence breaks out in the occupied city and across the West Bank and Gaza. One death has been reported in Ramallah.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, 23 Palestinians have been injured, including four as a result of shooting.

Youngsters have been attacked with dogs in Damascus Gate by Israeli soldiers, who are also opening fire at civilians. Videos of a woman being beaten by Israeli soldiers in Damascus Gate have also emerged on social media.

Israeli forces have stopped ambulances and journalists from entering Ramallah, at around the time the shooting that killed one Palestinian took place. The Israeli army claims the slain Palestinian had tried to stab an Israeli soldier.

Protests continue just over a week after US President Donald Trump's decision to declare Jerusalem as Israel's capital, while millions across the world also denounced the December 6 declaration.

The controversial announcement has undermined the likelihood of a reconciliation, and damaged the already fragile Israeli-Palestinian peace process. Last Friday, Hamas declared an 'intifada' and called for a 'day of rage'.

Israel regards Jerusalem as its capital, a position nearly the entire world rejects saying its status should be determined in peace talks with the Palestinians.

Jerusalem is a key issue in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and Arab leaders and others have reacted in anger.

Trump's move has been condemned worldwide and protests have been taking place globally including in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, Egypt, Jordan.
