Supermodel Gigi Hadid has drawn the ire of by the Israeli government after she posted in support of Palestine on her Instagram account.

"There is nothing Jewish about the Israeli government's treatment of Palestinians. Condemning the Israeli government is not antisemitic, and supporting Palestinians is not supporting Hamas," Hadid said in a post on the social media platform.

Israel's government quickly picked up Hadid's statement, posting a response through an Instagram Story that read: "There is nothing valiant about Hamas' massacre of Israelis. Condemning Hamas for what it is (ISIS) is not anti-Palestine and supporting Israelis in their fight against barbaric terrorists is the right thing to do."

The account of the State of Israel addressed Hadid directly and tagged her account, asking: "Have you been sleeping the past week?
Or you just fine turning a blind eye to Jewish babies being butchered in their homes? Your silence has been very clear about where you stand. We see you."

"If you don't condemn this your words mean NOTHING," the account wrote, again tagging Hadid's account.

Hadid's fans slammed the government account singling Hadid out, describing it as a form of harassment.

Other fans of Hadid welcomed her stance and made comparisons with how pro-Israeli celebrities have been treated.

Gigi's younger sister, Bella Hadid, has not yet commented on the ongoing war, however has previously expressed her support for the Palestinian cause, also drawing criticism from the Israeli government's social media accounts.

Mohamed Hadid, father of Gigi and Bella, was born in 1948 in what is now Nazareth, Israel.

The famous Palestinian real-estate developer posted a graphic about the war that read: "There is nothing Jewish about the Israeli government's treatment of Palestinians."

"Condemning the Israeli government is not antisemitic and supporting Palestinians is not supporting Hamas."

In past statements, he has mentioned that he took it upon himself to make sure that each of his children understand and are proud of their Palestinian heritage.
